The right destination depends on how active you want to be, the time of year you’re traveling, and whether you want to combine outdoor activities with cities, beaches, wildlife, or cultural experiences.
The Canadian Rockies are an easy transition for national park lovers, with dramatic mountains, turquoise lakes, wildlife, and scenic drives through Banff, Jasper, and Yoho. The Dolomites, Patagonia, and New Zealand are excellent choices for mountain scenery and hiking, while Costa Rica and the Galápagos are particularly good for wildlife and outdoor activities.
Not at all. Just as with national parks, many international destinations have spectacular scenery that you can experience through scenic drives, gondolas, boat trips, wildlife tours, and short walks.

It depends on the destination and how many logistics you want to handle yourself (both in the planning phase and during the trip). You can travel completely independently, take a fully guided trip, or use a hybrid approach with your own hotels and transportation plus private or small-group tours along the way. I can help you decide which approach makes the most sense for your destination, budget, and travel style.
Yes. International outdoor trips can include luxury hotels and lodges, private guides, private transfers, and special experiences while still keeping nature and outdoor adventure at the center of the trip.
It completely depends on the destination and whether or not you’re going in peak season. For peak season destinations like the Canadian Rockies in the summer or Costa Rica over the holidays, 9-12 months is ideal to get the best prices and selection of hotels. That said, you can certainly do it in less. In general, 6 months is ideal, but the earlier the plan, the more options you have.
